This exhibition, showcasing the architectural works of Academician Zhang Jinqiu, is open to the public free of charge for one month. Known as a “national treasure” of Shaanxi Province, Zhang Jinqiu masterfully inherits the essence of traditional Chinese architecture while seamlessly integrating it with contemporary functional needs. Her architectural forms and spatial compositions harmoniously blend traditional, natural, technological and contemporary beauty. She also skillfully merges the cultural essences of the East and the West, representing the enduring vitality of Chinese architecture.
Zhang’s masterpieces, such as the Shaanxi History Museum, the San Tang Project, the Sacrifice Hall of the Mausoleum of Huangdi, the Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Hall, Tang Paradise, and Chang’an Tower, have become landmark buildings and cultural landscapes in cities across China.
As a key component of the Belt and Road Architectural Development Forum, this exhibition was jointly planned and designed by the China Northwest Architectural Design and Research Institute and the Shaanxi History Museum. It highlights Zhang Jinqiu’s architectural masterpieces, design philosophy, and her multifaceted career. Many historical materials are publicly displayed for the first time, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the background, creative process, and inspiration behind her architectural works.
This exhibition seeks to carry forward the path of integrating modernity with tradition, a legacy pioneered by senior architectural scholars like Zhang Jinqiu.
