Bright Bronze Brilliant Four Squares
—Exhibition of Bronze Culture in the Zhou Dynasty
in Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Hebei
24 October 2016 – 24 February 2017
In conjunction with the Eighth Symposium on the Theory and Practice of Museums held in Xi’an, Shaanxi History Museum presents this exhibition to showcase the rich bronze culture of the Western and Eastern Zhou Dynasties.
The exhibition shows 206 exquisite pieces (sets) of bronze cultural relics organized chronologically, including over 100 first-grade cultural relics, many of them being displayed to the public for the first time. The artistic design is both innovative and elegant, with a solemn and grand style. Centered on the themes of cultural collision, communication, integration, unity, and development, this exhibition offers the first comprehensive display of archaeological discoveries from the vassal states of the Western and Eastern Zhou Dynasties across four provinces. It aligns with the symposium’s focus on Wisdom in the Age of “Internet +” Museums, highlighting the innovative integration of technology and cultural heritage.
The exhibition aims to be both informative and accessible to a broad audience. To enhance the visitor experience, the exhibition is accompanied by the relevant books, albums, and a range of cultural and artistic creative products. A series of educational and interactive activities have also been developed to deepen public engagement with the rich history and artistry of the Zhou Dynasties.
Supported by 20 esteemed cultural and museum institutions, including the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, Shanxi Museum, Henan Museum, and Hebei Museum and so on, this exhibition marks a significant milestone in regional museum collaboration.
