Years Like a Song
—Economic and Social Development in Shaanxi since the Republic of China
10 June 2017 – 10 September 2017
Exhibition Room 6
This exhibition is a special endeavor to evoke the lingering warmth of bygone days since the establishment of the Republic of China. In 2016, in response to a national initiative, the campaign “Collection of Material Evidence of Economic and Social Development and Changes” was launched. Over the last year, more than 1, 300 “old items” were collected, each reflecting the economic and social transformations in Shaanxi since the Republic of China.
The century spanning from 1911 to 2000 was a profound journey from darkness to light for the Chinese nation. This pivotal period, characterized by national salvation, revival, and social development, is vividly captured in the rapid evolution of everyday objects tied to people’s lives. Many of these items emerged and vanished as swiftly as meteors streaking across the night sky.
Through this exhibition, visitors are invited to explore the tangible remnants of this transformative era, gaining insight into the challenges, triumphs, and enduring spirit of Shaanxi people. It is a journey through time, where the echoes of history resonate with the present, reminding visitors of the resilience and progress that have shaped the world.
