Longquan Celadon and Sword
30 April, 2019 – 20 August, 2019
Exhibition Room 6
The craftsmanship of Longquan celadon and sword is in the first batch of the “Chinese National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Works”. In 2009, the traditional firing technique of Longquan celadon was included in the “Representative List of Human Intangible Cultural Heritage” by UNESCO, which demonstrates its unique status and value in the history of world ceramics.
This exhibition consists of four parts: “History of Longquan Sword”, “Master Swordsmiths”, “Beauty of Longquan Celadon”, and “Celadon Masterpieces”. More than 150 pieces of ancient and modern Longquan celadon and sword works are selected, showcasing the superb skills of local craftsmen. The display is particularly designed, by utilizing supplementary materials such as texts, pictures and videos, to allow the cultural relics and works to tell their own stories and to provide the audiences with a more intuitive and detailed understanding of Longquan sword and celadon culture.
In the afternoon of the opening ceremony, Zheng Guorong, a representative inheritor of Longquan sword forging skills, and Li Zhen, a senior craftsman of Longquan celadon, gave lectures respectively on the systematic development of the celadon and the sword.
