Tang-Tibet Ancient Path
— Joint Exhibition of Excellent Cultural Relics from 7 Provinces and Regions
25 October 2019 – 25 February 2020
Exhibition Room 6
The Tang-Tibet Ancient Path, running over 3,000 kilometers, spans Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Sichuan provinces and Xizang Tibetan Autonomous Region. Since the Tang Dynasty, it has been the only route from the Central Plains to Qinghai, Xizang, Nepal, and India, as the link for ethnic, cultural, trade, and religious exchanges between regions.
This exhibition is a joint display of cultural relics from various museums along the Tang-Tibet Ancient Path. It is divided into five parts: “The Origin”, “Political Relations”, “Economic Exchanges”, “Cultural Exchange” and “The Impact”, showing 175 exquisite cultural relics from the ancient road, aiming to help the audience understand its prosperity and significance in ancient China.
In recent years, Shaanxi History Museum, as the only museum jointly built by the central and local governments in northwest China, has extensively cooperated with museums in West China. Its exhibitions have been widely recognized by both the academic community and the public, such as “The Silk Road—Valuable Legacy in Northwest China”, “The Ancient Tea-Horse Road—a Special Exhibition of Cultural Relics from Eight Provinces and Regions”, “The Network of the Silk Road from Chang’an to the Tianshan Corridor—An Exhibition on the Application for World Cultural Heritage”, and “Silk Road Legacy Radiating from Chang’an”.
